Happy Halloween!

So last night was the ward harvest party. Prior to going to this party, it was mentioned many times that all costumes should be uplifting and not scary, and it was to be called the harvest party, not a halloween party. Suggestions for acceptable costumes were given like historical characters such as Joseph Smith, George Washington, or King Arthur. That made ideas for costumes a little difficult for Doug and I, and really, we didn't even start thinking about possible costumes until it was time to leave. So, in a mad dash I put on a flannel shirt, jeans and boots, braided my hair and called myself a cowgirl. Doug got on a pair of his tightest pants, v-neck shirt, this weird hood/scarf thing I got, parted his hair, threw on some glasses and we penciled on a little mustache. He was, of course, a hippster. Most people didn't get it, but I loved it. There were lots of cute families who put way more effort into their costumes than we did. Camie and James were Where's Waldo and looked great.

How can you not love that face? The Harvest Party was fun, but we don't have kids, so really, it was all kinda awkward for us since we just stood there and watched parents and kids running around. Luckily we ran into the Sadlers, another couple in the ward, and we were able to go out to dinner with them later that night. We got some delicious pizza at a local pizza place and Doug fit right in since we were in Uptown. That part of the city is known for the young college hippster scene. After dinner we went over to the Sadlers apartment and we played Bang and hung out and chatted all night. We didn't get home until 1:30! We haven't stayed out that late since before we were married! We had a great time though and were glad to spend time with friends!

Let's get squirly!

Land of 10,000 Lakes?? More like Land of 10,000 squirrels! There are so many of these little guys here. Doug and I were driving home one afternoon, and we drove one block and counted 12 squirrels running up and down trees, across the street, and darting in and out of bushes. Going on a walk outside here guarantees you a squirrel sighting. One evening Doug and I went for a jog and while running we saw a white albino squirrel! I didn't know if I should just stand there and watch or go get my camera! I was so excited to see an all white squirrel I was acting kinda nutty... (I am hilarious...) On a walk to Walgreens to return some Red Box movies tonight, I came equipped with my camera. Here are some pictures we got of the many squirrels we saw on our walk tonight. 

The Pad

So I know a lot of you have asked to see pictures of our home. I have finally gotten around to taking some pictures. We have plans to get wedding pictures printed and put up picture frames, but life gets busy and it doesn't happen :( Doug was sweet to nail up two frames, one with no picture in it, so we are making progress, just very slowly. So here it is... the lovely Robinson home.

 Finally being able to do laundry at home has been a blessing!

 This shelf was inspired by Doug's sister, Emily. She has the same shelf at her place in San Fran and she decorated it super cute, so I attempted to do the same.

So there she is... the little, but big, one bedroom apartment with a small den. Doug and I sure love this place!

Conference time... not in PJs?!?!

Remember that one time I went to watch conference in an LDS chapel for the first time in my life as opposed to watching in PJs on the couch, thinking I would be able to concentrate better and fight off that nagging need for a nap?? Though I must admit, it was a unique experience, watching Conference in your Sunday best while sitting behind a family of six with all children under the age of 13 was a bit tough. I was super distracted and found myself getting so sleepy and unfocused as babies cried, 10 year old boys pinched each other, and let's be honest, Doug writing on my arm with a pen. Also, to make things even more uncomfortable, the newest little Beehive in the Young Women's group was wearing the exact same outfit as me... from the brown shoes to the white Target sweater, to yes, the blue Target dress. Imagine a 26 year old married lady sitting right behind the new Beehive wearing the same outfit. Yikes. Despite all the distractions, Doug and I were actually able to get a lot out of Conference. It is a great opportunity to renew your faith, have prayers answered and receive personal revelation. To top it off, we had a huge conference pot luck between sessions. While I don't like buffets/pot lucks in large groups, mainly because I feel like there is a panic to get your food before everyone else gets to it, I really enjoyed this one because I got to try a variety of foods like Thai, Chinese, Mexican, Indian, and some Minnesotian as well. All in all, it was a delicious event as I was able to feast on the words of the prophets as well as some really good food.

The Honeymooners

So I worked really hard on having an awesome blog about the honeymoon, and then this stupid thing erased everything I had done and autosaved it. Grrrr.... THEN Doug wrote a journal entry every day we were there on his ipad but he had to do something weird to his ipad and everything got erased. Technology can be so frustrating sometimes. Soooo... Here is a bunch of pictures of the honeymoon and I will describe as we go along.

All in all, Doug and I had a wonderful honeymoon. We laid on the beach, snorkeled, ate good food, relaxed, hiked, and fell even more in love! So happy to have gone on the best vacation/honeymoon with my best friend. The one huge bummer was the flight home. We had to take the red eye home and it was pretty much being up for 24 hours with no sleep but wanting so badly to get a little shut eye, while being scared the plane will fall out of the sky into the ocean below because of the turbulence. It was a rough flight home, but so glad we took the trip!
